Well, where do I start and how detailed do I get? I’m 23 and live in Colorado, USA. I have and am a student of philosophy, science, and rationality. I’m formally a student of Psychology at Colorado State University. Psychology is fun and, to me, pretty easy. The main reason I’m studying it is that it’s a gateway to many neuroscience master’s programs. Some adjectives that apply to me follow. I’ll elaborate on all of them a little bit here and eventually in depth in future posts.
Skeptic: I require a reasonable standard of evidence before accepting a claim.
Scientist: Whenever possible, which basically means always, I check my beliefs against the outside world in a systematic way.
Philosopher: I use reason to analyze things like ethics, knowledge, and everything else.
Rationalist: I make an effort to train myself to be a professional thinker.
Transhumanist: I think that if you can do something to make your life, and the lives of others better, you should.
Atheist: I use the term to mean that I feel the same way about all gods as most people do about Zeus and Thor.
“I require a reasonable standard of evidence before accepting a claim”
The first wholly new interpretation of the moral teachings of Christ for two thousand years is on the web. Radically different from anything else we know of from history, this new ‘claim’ is predicated upon a precise and predefined experience, a direct individual intervention into the natural world by omnipotent power to confirm divine will. “correcting human nature by a change in natural law, altering biology, consciousness and human ethical perception beyond all natural evolutionary boundaries.” Like it of no, a new religious claim testable by faith, meeting all Enlightenment criteria now exists. A religious revolution appears to be getting under way. More info at http://soulgineering.com/2011/05/22/the-final-freedoms/
This comment has the air of spam, but the quote from the page throws me off. It seems like spam because I have no idea how skepticism can have any possible pathway to a religious revolution… If you want to comment again, please explain a little more what you’re talking about. And include the word ‘banana’ so I know you’re not a robot or a less-insane Mabus. Cheers!
la la la yaaaaaay!
